Geology at the Hurlers

During the course of the project, the Geology of the area will play a key role. A detailed and broad Geology survey of the granite resources that surround the Hurlers will be undertaken as will a detailed and broad Geology survey of the granite that the Hurlers Standing stones are made from themselves.

Volunteers will be trained in the surveying and use of specialist equipment used during the geological survey.

A detailed and broad Geology survey of the granite of the excavated 4th stone circle will take place also involving volunteers after the site has been exposed in the September dig.

Reading the Hurlers will gather new information about The Hurlers stone circle complex, in order to inform management and aid wider interpretation and presentation of the nationally important prehistoric monument.
