Reading The Hurlers - Dig Week - Day 1

With the Reading The Hurlers Dig starting tomorrow morning (Tuesday 13th), we stepped bravely into the thick moorland fog with a small team of volunteers, to carry fencing and equipment onto the moors. The dig will be fenced for the safety of the grazing moorland animals (we don’t want sheep and ponies falling in the trench overnight) and the safety of the diggers, should the moorland beast make an appearance.

Emma:  “A huge thank you to all the volunteers, from Saltash U3A Geology and Caradon Amateur Geology Group, who turned up in the mist and the rain, to help carry the fencing onto the site, on the promise of cake and donuts”

Calum: “After 2 years of planning, and several challenges overcome, its amazing to think we are starting to dig and will soon be studying the nature of the granite” at circle site 4.
